PLR SHOW 27 LEROY BURGESS TRIBUTE SPECIAL FEAT INNER LIFE, BLACK IVORY, CLASS ACTION

This edition of PLR is a tribute to the amazing man that is Leroy Burgess!

From his beginnings with Black Ivory in the early 70's through to his work with The Aleems in the 80's and all his solo projects in between he has been an inspirational figure in the under ground disco scene.

He mastered a truly unique sound that moved with the times and technology but still stayed to the side of the mainstream sound. From his irregular drum patterns to the stabby piano chords Leroy has always moved a crowd!! Please enjoy the selections and do your own little bit of research on this amazing musician. He is a gateway to a sound and time when there was true soul and passion being breathed into the music.

Stay smilin and we'll see you on the dancefloor!

PLR SHOW 23 FEAT SAINT TROPEZ, FRANCE JOLI, THE LIMIT

I was lucky enough to go on a five week trip to the US last month. I spent many hours scouring record shops in the cities of Chicago and NYC. It was really amazing to go to the birth place of the disco sound and records that, in Australia would be regarded as a good record to have would be littered through the 50 cent bins.

This tracklist is a small example of the records i found. I know that there is nothing rare about any of these records and many of the records that i got but its all about the groove and makin cats move.

Hope you enjoy! Stay smilin and we'll see you on the dance floor!

PLR EXCLUSIVE BENNY BADGE/FREEKWENCY MIX & INTERVIEW

Another week at Paradise Loft Radio and we have been blessed with a very special guest. For you who know him know that he throws down a mean set of electrifying 80's soul and produces a groove to have you hummin' for weeks. For you that dont, our guest is a gentleman who goes by a range of different names, but we know him as Benny Badge.

When you are spending as much time as this brother hunched over a synth you know its gonna lead to the production of a whole pile of music. In Benny's case not only is there a plethora of releases to come but it is all authentic boogie heat!

I have been privileged enough to have worked with Benny, collaborating  on the Freekwency release, Flip The Coin. I've seen first hand his dedication to the groove and pure love and sacrifice for his creations.

On this programme Benny has thrown down a mix of tunes for us all with his signature flavour of the lovers groove. Expect syncopation, cowbell, drum machines melting and an interview which will help you gain a little insight into the man that is Benny Badge.

PLR SHOW 12 FEAT STARPOINT, NU SHOOZ, FREEEZ

This weeks program is a blend of disco, soul and boogie grooves. One of the tunes that i can never get enough of and ends up in my head for a good couple of days after listening to it is the Brothers Johnson song, Celebrations. The tune is truly a Jamboree of amazing musicians, producers getting together and each of them leaving their own little imprint.

One of the gentleman that was responsible for Celebrations being such an amazing groove was the co-writer Rod Temperton. I don't know if this name jumps out at you but this well spoken English man has written some of the most famous soul songs of all time ((Michael Jackson's Thriller) and has worked with an endless list of artists.

Quincy Jones contacted Temperton and was interested in colaborating after hearing his brilliant song writing and musicianship with his band Heatwave. This partnership lead to the writing/production of many amazing soul grooves from artists such as Michael Jackson, Patti Austin, James Ingram and also on Quincy Jones' Album The Dude. Temperton wrote Somethin' Special which i must say is a personal favorite the album The Dude.

Paradise Loft Radio has great admiration for Rod Temperton and his many contributions to the soul music scene. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for a Rod Temperton Inspired Paradise Loft Radio Show.

This week we are going to take a brief look at the musical great, Patrick Adams and highlight some of his many acheivements that span over four decades.

Adams got his first exposure at the age of sixteen when a band he had joined, Sparks had won an audition to be the band in the Warner Brothers movie 'Up and Down The Staircase'. This cameo performance led to the band being signed to Cub/MGM records and recorded a single called 'Cool it' and 'Woe Woe'. Sparks toured for four years with many artists including the Commodores. Around this time Adams wrote a song called 'You've Got To Learn Something' Which is still featured on Sesame Street today.

There is so much to know about Patrick Adams and his uplifting body of work. Please peruse this link for not only more details of Patrick Adams but many more Disco Artists.
