PLR'S TOP 10 DISCO GROOVES 2013, FEAT POWERLINE, MOMENT OF TRUTH, EDDIE KENDRICKS

I pondered a theme for this weeks show and decided to showcase some of the great, underground disco classics. Initially I thought it would be a good idea to do my top ten all time disco grooves but when faced with the challenge of making the selections, I reverted to picking a top ten list of disco classics for 2013. As the tracklist below shows, there are a good range of styles and also skipping across the pond for the Light of The World Groove.

A delicious blend of grooves from 70's through to the 90's. All the usual suspects popping up and treating us with many amazing tunes. keep your ears pricked for the Kano tune, She's A Star. Italian producers playing up to the Americano palate with an undeniable italo edge. Stefano Pulga and Lucio Ninzatti would have worn out a good couple of arpeggiators in their time!

Candido, the gentleman responsible for the groove Dancin' and Prancin' is a Cuban Born percussionist and arrived in New York in 1952. The following year he was working with Dizzie Gilliespie and other Jazz greats. He went on to produce the album Dancin' and Prancin' in 1979 which was released on Salsoul records. A truly amazing record with 3 of the four tracks being worthy of any dance floor. Enjoy another week of Paradise Loft Radio and if you don't know Candido look him up. An amazing cat!
