PLR SHOW 12 FEAT STARPOINT, NU SHOOZ, FREEEZ

This weeks program is a blend of disco, soul and boogie grooves. One of the tunes that i can never get enough of and ends up in my head for a good couple of days after listening to it is the Brothers Johnson song, Celebrations. The tune is truly a Jamboree of amazing musicians, producers getting together and each of them leaving their own little imprint.

One of the gentleman that was responsible for Celebrations being such an amazing groove was the co-writer Rod Temperton. I don't know if this name jumps out at you but this well spoken English man has written some of the most famous soul songs of all time ((Michael Jackson's Thriller) and has worked with an endless list of artists.

Quincy Jones contacted Temperton and was interested in colaborating after hearing his brilliant song writing and musicianship with his band Heatwave. This partnership lead to the writing/production of many amazing soul grooves from artists such as Michael Jackson, Patti Austin, James Ingram and also on Quincy Jones' Album The Dude. Temperton wrote Somethin' Special which i must say is a personal favorite the album The Dude.

Paradise Loft Radio has great admiration for Rod Temperton and his many contributions to the soul music scene. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for a Rod Temperton Inspired Paradise Loft Radio Show.

This week we are going to take a brief look at the musical great, Patrick Adams and highlight some of his many acheivements that span over four decades.

Adams got his first exposure at the age of sixteen when a band he had joined, Sparks had won an audition to be the band in the Warner Brothers movie 'Up and Down The Staircase'. This cameo performance led to the band being signed to Cub/MGM records and recorded a single called 'Cool it' and 'Woe Woe'. Sparks toured for four years with many artists including the Commodores. Around this time Adams wrote a song called 'You've Got To Learn Something' Which is still featured on Sesame Street today.

There is so much to know about Patrick Adams and his uplifting body of work. Please peruse this link for not only more details of Patrick Adams but many more Disco Artists.
